Our journey through the Iberian Peninsula begins in Madrid, where you’ll experience the capital’s grand boulevards, lively plazas, and rich cultural heritage before traveling north to Santander and tracing the rugged, scenic coastline of northern Spain. After discovering the highlights of Spain’s northern coast, we make our way into Portugal with a visit to Porto. From there, continue to Portuguese coast just outside of Lisbon. From there, we’re off to the sun-drenched shores of the Algarve before returning inland to Spain and soulful Sevilla. The tour concludes in coastal Málaga, with comfortable multi-night stays along the way that allow you to relax and fully enjoy each region through enriching day excursions.

Day 0 - Optional Early Arrival - Tuesday, September 15th
Arrive in Madrid a day early and ease into your journey at your own pace flying in whenever you’d like. After you exit customs, a private driver will be waiting to meet you and escort you directly to our comfortable accommodations in the heart of Mardrid. Settle in, relax, and enjoy some free time to explore Madrid’s vibrant streets, cafés, and plazas before the main tour begins.

Day 1 - Arrival Day and Welcome Reception - Wednesday, September 16th
Bienvenidos and welcome to magnificent Madrid! Upon your arrival at the city’s international airport, we’ll be waiting to greet you before heading to our comfortable accommodations in the heart of Madrid. After you’ve had time to unpack and settle in we’ll gather for our Welcome Dinner reception o kick off what’s sure to be an unforgettable trip!

Day 2 - Madrid City Tour - Thursday, September 17th
Kick off your first full day in Spain’s capital by soaking in the vibrant energy of Madrid. The morning begins with a guided tour along the city’s grand boulevards and through its leafy parks, offering a relaxed introduction to its distinctive character. We’ll then delve into the historic center, strolling through elegant plazas and past iconic landmarks in the charming Old Town. As the guided portion of the day concludes, enjoy the afternoon at your leisure—perhaps visiting one of Madrid’s magnificent museums, lingering in a café, browsing local shops, or simply continuing to wander the city’s lively streets at your own pace.

Day 3 - Segovia, Spain - Friday, September 18th
Leaving behind the capital of Madrid, we journey towards Spain’s northern coast. Along the way, we’ll visit the enchanting town of Segovia, where the day’s main attraction awaits. Marvel at the towering Roman aqueduct, stroll through winding medieval streets, and admire the fairy-tale Alcázar perched high above the valley. After time to explore and enjoy lunch at your leisure, we continue through changing landscapes toward Santander, arriving in this elegant coastal city by evening to settle into our accommodations and enjoy the fresh sea air.

Day 4 - Guggenheim Museum & Bilbao - Satruday, September 19th
Set out from Santander this morning for a day of art, architecture, and ancient history. We travel east along the Bay of Biscay to Bilbao, where the striking titanium curves of the Guggenheim Museum await. Enjoy a guided visit and time to explore the galleries at your own pace, taking in both the iconic building and its world-class collections. In the afternoon, the adventure continues with a visit to one of northern Spain’s remarkable prehistoric caves, where ancient rock art offers a fascinating window into the distant past. We then return to Santander in the evening, with time to relax after a full and inspiring day.

Day 5 - Treasure’s of the Northern Coast - Sunday, September 20th
Today’s journey leads us through some of northern Spain’s most scenic corners, blending mountain vistas, coastal charm, and regional flavors. We begin with time to admire dramatic viewpoints over the rugged Picos de Europa before continuing toward the coast, where we pause in a lively seaside city to stroll its waterfront and historic quarters. Along the way, we’re introduced to the region’s traditional cider culture, with the opportunity to sample local varieties over a relaxed meal. As the day unfolds, we follow stretches of the wild northern shoreline, stopping to take in striking coastal landscapes and fresh Atlantic air, before concluding in A Coruña for a night’s stay right on the coast.

Day 6 - Santiago de Compostela - Monday, September 21st
Turning inland, we will visit Santiago de Compostela, one of Europe’s most storied pilgrimage destinations. Spend time exploring its historic center, wandering atmospheric streets that open onto grand squares and the magnificent cathedral that marks the end of the Camino. After ample time for sightseeing and lunch at your leisure, we continue south into Portugal, arriving in Porto. Here, our elegant five-star accommodations overlooking the river and iconic city bridge, and enjoy a relaxing evening taking in the sparkling views of Porto’s hillside skyline.

Day 7 - Porto City Tour -Tuesday, September 22nd
Spend the day discovering the charm of Porto, beginning with a scenic cable car ride that glides above the riverside, offering sweeping views of the Douro and the city’s terraced rooftops. Back on the ground, we continue with a guided walking tour through the historic center, winding past colorful façades, lively squares, and beloved local landmarks. After getting nicely oriented, enjoy the rest of the day at your leisure. Perhaps lingering over a glass of port wine, browsing shops, visiting a museum, or simply wandering the atmospheric streets at your own pace.

Day 8 - Sacred Sites and Atlantic Horizons - Wednesday, September 23rd
Travel south from Porto today as we make our way toward the coastal town of Cascais, with several memorable stops along the way. We begin in Fátima, one of Portugal’s most important pilgrimage sites, where you’ll have time to visit the sanctuary and reflect at your own pace. From there, we continue to the impressive Batalha Monastery, a Gothic masterpiece with intricate stonework and soaring arches. Our route then leads to the seaside town of Nazaré, known for its dramatic cliffs and Atlantic views, before a final stop in the medieval village of Óbidos, encircled by ancient walls and cobbled lanes. By day’s end, we arrive in the seaside Lisbon subrub of Cascais, where you’ll settle into your accommodations and enjoy the relaxed coastal atmosphere.

Day 9 - Sintra Palace and the Coast - Thursday, September 24th
Setting out from Cascais, a scenic journey to Sintra, where lush hills and fairytale palaces await. Enjoy a guided visit of one of Sintra’s iconic palaces, taking in its ornate architecture, colorful details, and sweeping views over the surrounding landscape. Afterwards, we continue to explore the dramatic coastline nearby, where rugged cliffs meet the Atlantic. Returning to Cascais in the afternoon, you’ll have free time to stroll the seaside promenades, relax by the water, or linger in local cafés. If you wish, you can also take the suburban rail that runs directly along the coast for an evening in Lisbon, experiencing the capital’s vibrant atmosphere before making your way back to Cascais.

Day 10 - Lisbon & the Santurario de Christ - Friday, September 25th
Departing Cascais we set off for a day of discovery in Lisbon, where we’ll explore several of the city’s distinctive districts on a guided tour. Take in the sweeping views from hilltop neighborhoods, wander past tiled façades and grand plazas, and learn about Lisbon’s layered maritime and royal history. Afterward, enjoy free time to savor a leisurely lunch and browse local shops befire we visit the famous Santuário de Cristo Rei, with its impressive statue and panoramic views across the Tagus River. From here, we turn south and drive into the Algarve, arriving in Lagos for an overnight stay on Portugal’s sun-drenched southern coast.

Day 11 - Lagos & La Rábida - Saturday, September 26th
Wake up along the sunny southern coast of Portugal where our day begins with a pleasant walk into the nearby town of Lagos, once an important harbor during the Age of Discovery and closely linked with Prince Henry the Navigator. Enjoy some time to wander its cobbled streets, whitewashed buildings, and lively squares before we continue to the dramatic cliffs along the Algarve coast, where sheer rock faces and hidden coves frame the sparkling Atlantic. In the afternoon, we head west into Spain and visit La Rábida, a site closely associated with Christopher Columbus and his first voyage across the Atlantic. After exploring this historic stop, we continue on to Sevilla, arriving in the evening to settle into our accommodations in the heart of Andalusia.

Day 12 - Seville Old Town Walking Tour - Sunday, September 27th
Embark on a captivating day touring Seville, immersing yourself in the city's vibrant atmosphere. Enjoy exploring iconic landmarks such as the awe-inspiring Alcazar and the lively Plaza de España. This is a great day spent soaking up the Andalusian culture through its architecture, history, and charming streets.

Day 13 - Ronda - Sunday, September 27th
A full-day excursion brings us to Ronda, one of Andalusia’s most dramatic hilltop towns. On arrival, enjoy a guided walk through the historic center, taking in whitewashed streets, elegant plazas, and the iconic Puente Nuevo bridge spanning the deep El Tajo gorge. Learn about Ronda’s rich blend of Roman, Moorish, and Spanish history as you admire sweeping views over the surrounding countryside. After the tour, enjoy free time to linger over lunch, visit a museum or the historic bullring, or simply soak up the atmosphere from a terrace overlooking the cliffs. Upon returning to Seville, we’ll come together one last time for a festive farewell dinner, reminiscing about the memories and experiences we’ve shared over the past days.

Day 14 - Departure Day, Monday, September 28th - OR OPTIONAL ADD-ON
For main tour guests, our journey through Spain comes to a close today. After breakfast, those departing will be transferred to Seville Airport for their flights home, carrying with them the memories of the past days. For guests continuing on the optional “Moorish Palaces & Mediterranean Shores” extension, the adventure goes on as we set out from Seville to begin the next chapter of our explorations.
