Our round-trip journey through mainland Greece begins in Athens, where you’ll explore the iconic Acropolis before venturing to some of the country’s most remarkable mainland sites. This thoughtfully designed itinerary includes comfortable multi-night stays, allowing guests to unwind and fully experience the diverse regions of mainland Greece through enriching day trips.

Day 0 - Optional Early Arrival - Wednesday, April 23rd
Enhance your travel experience with an optional pre-tour single night stay in the enchanting city of Athens, allowing you to arrive a day before the official tour begins. This package includes a private transfer from Athens International Airport to our beautifully appointed hotel, ensuring a seamless arrival. As you settle in, take advantage of the extra time to explore the iconic sites of this historic city, where you can wander through the delightful nearby neighborhoods. With this pre-tour stay, you’ll have the perfect opportunity to acclimate and immerse yourself in the captivating atmosphere of Athens before the adventure officially begins.

Day 1 - Arrival Day and Welcome Reception - Thursday, April 24th
Καλώς ήρθατε" (pronounced: Kalos irthate) and welcome to Greece! Upon arrival in the vibrant capital of Athens, you will be greeted by your Bavaria & Beyond tour guides. Enjoy a beverage on us as you get acquainted with your fellow travelers. Once the group has gathered, it's time to load up and head our central accomodations in Athens. After checking into the hotel, take some time to unwind before we enjoy a traditional Greek dinner savoring the flavors of fresh Mediterranean cuisine as we kick-off what is sure to be a great tour.

Day 2 - Acropolis & Ancient Greek Mythology Tour - Friday, April 25th
Visit some of the the world’s most iconic Greek ruins as we discover Athens with our local guide. Our outing includes a visit to the majestic Acropolis, where you'll stand in awe of the Parthenon, the Temple of Athena Nike, and the Erechtheion with its famous Caryatids. Captivating tales of gods and heroes come to life, from Zeus to Athena, as we learn of the myths that shaped ancient Greek culture. The tour continues with a visit to the Acropolis Museum, where you'll discover artifacts and sculptures that reveal the rich history and mythology of ancient Greece.

Day 3 - Greek Ceramics Experience / Kerameikos Ruins / Archaeological Museum of Thebes - Saturday, April 26th
Before departing Athens, we’ll spend the morning exploring the historic Kerameikos district, once the city’s potters' quarter and the origin of the English word "ceramic." Given its rich heritage, it’s only fitting that we take a hands-on approach to Greek ceramics with a visit to a local pottery studio, where those interested can paint their own pottery souvenir. Alternatively, archaeology enthusiasts may choose to join our local guide for a tour of the nearby Kerameikos district with our local guide.
After some free time for lunch, we’ll visit the Agora of Athens as a group before leaving the capital behind and journey toward Delphi. As our scenic drive concludes, we arrive at the scenicV-Hotel Delphi.

Day 4 - Thermopylae and Meteora Monasteries - Sunday, April 27th
Heading north to Delphi, enjoy an insightful stop at Thermopylae, the site of the famous 480 BC battle where King Leonidas and his 300 Spartans made their legendary stand against the Persian army. Visit the Leonidas Monument and learn about the battle’s significance with our expert guide. Afterward, our scenic drive north continues as we arrive at the stunning Meteora Monasteries. Soak in the mountain views as we travel through the picturesque Greek countryside, with majestic mountains and lush valleys along the way. After a day of awe-inspiring views and cultural immersion, return to Delphi for an evening surrounded by the beauty and serenity of this remarkable region.

Day 5 - Arachova & Delphi - Monday, April 28th
A short yet captivating journey awaits as we discover a the history of Greek bee keeping, the charming mountain village of Arachova, and the famous ruins of Delphi. Explore the archaeological site, including the iconic Temple of Apollo and the ancient theater, all while taking in stunning mountain views.

Day 6 - Galaxidi, Greece & Greek Cultural Expierence - Tuesday, April 29th
As we travel west from Delphi to Galaxidi, we combine breathtaking scenery with rich cultural experiences. Our destination for the day is the charming coastal town of Galaxidi, known for its picturesque harbor and well-preserved neoclassical architecture. Stroll along the waterfront promenade, visit the Maritime Museum, and enjoy the serene atmosphere of this traditional fishing village. After soaking in the beauty of Galaxidi, we continue our journey stoping in Patras to explore the vibrant local culture. Experience the lively atmosphere of this bustling city, famous for its historic sites and delicious cuisine, perhaps savoring some local delicacies for lunch. Finally, the day concludes as we arrive at our accomodations just a stones through away from the birthplace of the Olympic Games. This enriching transfer day promises unforgettable memories as you discover the stunning landscapes and cultural treasures of Greece.

Day 7 - Birthplace of the Olympics - Wednesday, April 30th
Take a trip back in time as we explore the ancient ruins of Olympia, birthplace of the Olympic Games. As you stroll through the historic site, our knowledgeable guide will share captivating stories about the athletes who competed here and the rituals surrounding the games. Explore the impressive remains of the Temple of Zeus, once home to one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World, and marvel at the beautifully preserved ancient stadium where athletes once raced for glory. Visit the ancient workshop of Phidias, where the renowned sculptor created the colossal statue of Zeus. You'll also have the opportunity to see the Olympic flame altar, a symbol of peace and unity that continues to be used in the modern Olympic Games. This guided tour not only brings the ruins to life but also offers a deeper understanding of the cultural and historical significance of Olympia in ancient Greece.

Day 8 - Northern Peloponnese - Thursday, May 1st
Departing Olympia, we set off on a breathtaking journey through the rugged mountains of the northern Peloponnese. Traveling on a national holiday, we'll discover the natural beauty of this region. Our first destination is the enchanting Cave Lakes, an underground marvel where cascading waterfalls give way to tranquil, layered lakes within a stunning limestone cavern. Following free time for lunch in the quaint ski town of Kalavryta, we embark on one of Greece’s most scenic rail journeys aboard the Odontotos Railway, a historic cogwheel train that winds its way through the breathtaking Vouraikos Gorge. As the train climbs through dramatic cliffs, lush forests, and rushing streams, we’ll be treated to some of the most spectacular views in the region. Descending from the mountains we conclude the day as we arrive at our seaside retreat, the Kalamaki Beach Hotel. Nestled along the picturesque Gulf of Corinth, this beachfront hotel offers a peaceful setting to unwind after our adventure-filled day.

Day 9 - Epidaurus & Nafplion - Friday, May 2nd
Wake up to the serene views of the Gulf of Corinth. After enjoying breakfast at our waterfront hotel, we set off for another day of adventure, traveling to the ancient ruins of Epidaurus and the picturesque town of Nafplion.
Our first stop is Nafplion, one of Greece’s most charming towns, we’ll take a leisurely stroll through its enchanting old town, filled with neoclassical buildings, quaint shops, and inviting cafés. After a brief orientation, enjoy free time to wander its picturesque streets, soak in the relaxed atmosphere, or savor a coffee at a seaside café.
From there, we head to Epidaurus, home to the renowned ancient theater, celebrated for its exceptional acoustics and remarkable architecture. Built in the 4th century BC, this incredibly well-preserved theater still hosts performances today. We’ll also explore the nearby Sanctuary of Asclepius, an important healing center of the ancient world, where Greeks once sought medical treatment and divine intervention. Upon our return, we’ll make a short stop at the often overlooked ruins of Cenchreae.

Day 10 - Archea Korinthos & Corinth Canal - Saturday, May 3rd
Making out way back to the capital city, the first destination of the day is Ancient Corinth where we’ll explore the impressive ruins, including the Temple of Apollo and the ancient marketplace, while learning about the city's historical significance in Greek culture. From there, we’ll make a brief stop at the remarkable Corinth Canal, where you can marvel at the engineering feat that connects the Aegean and Ionian seas. As a day filled with history and breathtaking landscapes, concludes, our journey comes full circle as we return to the capital city of Athens.

Day 11 - Athens Free Day - Sunday, May 4th
Enjoy a leisurely free day in Athens on the final full day of our tour. Squeeze in a visit to one last museum, or wander through the ancient city. Stroll through Plaka’s charming streets, lined with shops and cafés, or relax in the National Garden for a peaceful escape. For a modern touch, visit the bustling Monastiraki Flea Market or the upscale Kolonaki district for shopping and dining. In the evening, the group will gather one last time to reminisce about the memories made as we celebrate together at a farewell dinner reception.

Day 12 - Greek Islands Extension or Airport Transfer - Monday, May 5th
For those concluding their tour here, enjoy a relaxed morning before being transported to Athens International Airport for your departure. Meanwhile, guests joining the Greek Islands Extension will set off as we begin an exciting 5-day cruise, where you'll explore the idyllic Greek islands and experience the stunning beauty of the Aegean Sea. Whether you’re heading home or continuing on to the islands, this day marks the perfect transition from an unforgettable journey through Greece.
