In 2025, our annual Christmas Market tour takes us to the Scandanavian country of Denmark where we’ll visit the capital city' and its specacular holiday market. From there, our festive journey heads south to the German port of Hamburg before we make our way to medieval Münster with several historic markets set against the medieval backdrop.. A three night stay in the quiant town of Boppard is sure to enchant with scenic riverside views of the mighty Rhine. Finally, our journey concludes in Frankfurt where guests have the opportunity to fly home or join us for an optional add-on extension visiting Rothenburg and Garmisch-Partenkirchen. This tour offers a delightful blend of festive cheer, cultural experiences, and picturesque settings with three-night stays allowing guests to settle in at each destination.

Day 1 - Arrival Day and Welcome Reception - Sunday, November 30th

Velkommen and greetings in the Danish capital of Copenhagen as our annual Christmas tradition kicks off this year’s festive tour. After gathering at Copenhagen Kastrup International Airport, we’ll make our way to our comfortable accommodations surrounded by Copenhagen’s Christmas charm. Once settled in, take a leisurely stroll around the neighborhood, adorned with beautiful holiday decorations. In the evening, we'll gather for our Welcome Dinner Reception, marking the beginning of what promises to be an unforgettable trip!

Day 2 - Copenhagen Christmas Monday, December 1st

Experience the magic of Copenhagen during the Advent season on a delightful day tour that captures the holiday spirit. Start the day with a warm cup of traditional Danish hot chocolate before embarking on a morning stroll through twinkling streets filled with festive decorations. Our local guide will share insights into the city’s storied past, providing an engaging orientation to this spectacular destination. In the afternoon, explore some of the city's beloved sights and markets on your own, such as Tivoli Gardens, the iconic Nyhavn district with its colorful waterfront, where you can savor traditional Danish pastries, and Christiansborg Palace. You’ll also learn about Christmas traditions at the National Museum of Denmark.

Day 3 - Kronborg Castle and Lund, Sweeden - Tuesday, December 2nd

Today we make our to Sweden but before crossing the Øresund, we’ll make a stop in Helsingør. At the water’s edge stands Kronborg Castle, depicted as Shakespeare’s Elisnore Castle in Hamlet. Its sea-facing walls and vaulted chambers feel both grand and haunted. After exploring the castle, we will take the short ferry across to Sweden. There we will enjoy a seaside lunch before heading to the picturesque university town of Lund, Sweden. Enjoy a visit to the striking Romanesque cathedral, before wrapping up the day by crossing the Øresund Bridge back into Denmark with Copenhagen on the horizon.

Day 4 - Copenhagen to Hamburg - Wednesday, December 3rd

Following a three-nights stay in the Danish capital, we say goodbye to Copenhagen and travel south through the Jutland peninsula enroute to Hamburg. Along the way, we’ll make several stops discovery local markets in the Jutland, Schleswig, and Holstein regions. Upon arrival in Hamburg, the city’s holiday spirit awaits with a special Christmas Market just outside the doorstep of our hotel accomodations.

Day 5 - Hansestadt Hamburg - Thursday, December 4th

Wake up in the vibrant “Hansestadt”Hamburg on the banks of the River Elbe. Following breakfast, we’ll get aquainted with the delightful districts of Germany’s second largest city discovering its rich maritime history and stunning architecture along the way. Our local guide will provide intruiging insights to the citys past and its significance in the Hanseatic League. Following our tour, enjoy the afternoon as you choose. Consdier a stroll through the historic Speicherstadt, the world's largest warehouse district, and marvel at its red-brick buildings or visit the bustling Christmas markets near our hotel. Don’t miss the chance to stop by popular attractions like the Miniatur Wunderland, International Maritime Museum, Elbphilharmonie, with its stunning views of the harbor, or the lively Jungfernstieg promenade along the Alster Lake.

Day 6 - Schwerin Castle & Lübeck - Friday, December 5th

Schwerin Castle, known by some as “Neuschwanstein of the North” is our first destination of the day. During our visit, learn more about the fairy-tale Schwerin Castle sitting majestically on an island in Lake Schwerin. Afterward, our outing continues as we make our way to the medieval port town of Lübeck. Here, we explore cobblestone streets, admire the iconic Holstentor gate, and visit the impressive St. Mary's Church. Following an introduction to town, enjoy some free time to savor Lübeck's famous marzipan and browse local shops before our outing concludes with a leisurely return to Hamburg.

Day 7 - German Emigration Museum & Bremen - Saturday, December 6th

Today we depart Hamburg, a make a visit to Bremerhaven’s German Emigration Center. Here we will walk through recreated docks, ship cabins and arrival halls that trace the journeys of millions of Europeans who crossed the Atlantic in search of a new life. Afterwards we continue to Bremen, where the Christmas Market fills the Marktplatz beneath the Rathaus and the Roland statue, with wooden stalls steaming with Glühwein. We end our day at our centrally located hotel in the university city of Münster.

Day 8 - Medieval Münster - Sunday, December 7th

Münster, a city with deep historical roots, played a significant role in European history, most notably as the site where the Peace of Westphalia was signed in 1648, ending the Thirty Years' War and shaping the modern European state system. The city’s Old Town, beautifully restored after World War II, offers a wealth of historical sights which we’ll discover today on our guided tour of the Old Town. Following our tour, enjoy an easy going afternoon exploring the Prinzipalmarkt, a charming street lined with gabled buildings, and the imposing St. Paul’s Cathedral, with its astronomical clock. The historic Town Hall (Rathaus), where the Peace of Westphalia was signed, is a must-see, as is the Lambertikirche, famous for its unique iron cages that once held the bodies of Anabaptist leaders.

Day 09 - Wuppertal and Cologne Christmas - Monday, December 8th

We start our day with a ride on the Wuppertal Schwebebahn, a hanging railway that floats above the river and streets. Somehow, this engineering marvel built in 1901 still looks futuristic. After the ride and visit to the museum, we will continue to Cologne. Here the cathedral towers over a glowing Christmas market scented with cinnamon, roasted nuts, and mulled wine. Wander the wooden stalls or visit one of the many cosy beer halls to try a crisp Kölsch — the city’s signature top-fermented beer, served in small narrow glasses. This city known for its Fasching (Carnival) celebrations later in year, brings that festive atmosphere to its Advent celebrations as well.

Day 10 - Cochem Castle & Koblenz - Tuesday, December 9th

From Boppard, we set-off on a picturesque journey along the Rhine to the town of Cochem where the stunning Reichsburg Castle overlooks the Moselle River. Enjoy a guided tour of the castle and take in the stunning views of the river from above. Afterward, enjoy a leisurely visit to Koblenz and explore the many festive Christmas Markets the city has to offer.

Day 11 - Rüdesheim am Rhein & Farewell Dinner - Wednesday, December 10th

On the final day of our Christmas tour, we take a delightful day trip to the town of Rüdesheim am Rhein. Enjoy a morning visit to the Asbach Distillery where you will learn about the history of this popular brandy and have a chance to warm up with a sampling. Afterwards, we head into the Old Town to visit the charming Christmas Market and have the option of taking the cable car up over the hillside vineyards. Enjoy our scenic drive back along the Rhein to Boppard. In the evening we will host our Farewell Dinner Reception. Savor a delicious meal while reflecting on the festive journey we’ve shared, as the twinkling lights of the Rhine Valley provide the perfect backdrop to conclude our annual Christmas tour.

Day 12 - Frankfurt Airport Transfer / Add-On Rothenburg obt - Thursday, December 11th

All good things must come to an end and for some of the group, this years Christmas Tour concludes with a comfortable transfer to Frankfurt International Airport. Meanwhile, guests extending their stay with the Garmisch Add-On will travel to Rothenburg ob der Tauber, renowned for its medieval charm and beautifully preserved architecture, amplified during the holiday season.
